Finca Alto La Cruz is owned by Edilia Rojas. The farm, like most in the Consacá area, is less than two hectares (i.e. very small) and is planted in coffee and also various fruit and vegetables as well as small scale livestock. As a result, Edilia’s family like most families in the area is self-sufficient on the farm. This diversity in crops also guarantees that income will come in throughout the year. This type of poly-cultural farm management is not only smart from an economic standpoint but it helps control the proliferation of certain pests and agricultural diseases while naturally feeding and enhancing the soil, reducing the need for pesticides, fungicides, herbicides and fertilizers. A naturally happy farm means less chemical input, all of the time.

Edilia processes her coffee with a micro-mill on the farm.  Unique terroir, thoughtful farm management, careful harvesting and processing all contribute to creating a special coffee.  Alto La Cruz is very clean with a structured sweetness reminding us of tropical fruits and raw processed sugar.
